2016-2017 EPCBA Board Elections

The EL Paso County Bar Association Elections Committee is seeking nominations of individuals to sit on the 2016-2017 EPCBA Board. Available Board roles are treasurer, trustee, and Colorado Bar Association Board of Governors Representative.
Board Positions: Treasurer and trustees are voting members of the board. CBA Board of Governors Representatives are nonvoting members that attend occasional CBA meetings in various locations and report back to the EPCBA Board at monthly board meeting. EPCBA board meetings are held once a month (usually the third Wednesday at 4PM).
Nominations must be submitted by July 22, 2016 to:  executivedirector@elpasocountybar.org 
To nominate yourself or another individual, please submit the following:
  1. First and last name of nominee
  2. Nominee's contact information (firm, email, phone)
  3. Statement of interest (very brief; no more than 150 words)
  4. Resume, CV, or brief description of professional background, including volunteer activities (bar activities/community involvement)
  5. Years in practice
Voting: The Elections Committee will place chosen nominees onto the elections ballot to be voted on by the EPCBA membership in late August. The role will begin in September 2016. If you have any questions, or to submit your nomination, please email EPCBA Executive Director, Kristi Dorr Gilkes at  executivedirector@elpasocountybar.org
*Any EPCBA member may be placed on the ballot by filing with the Elections Committee a petition signed by at least 25 EPCBA members. The petition must include the same information as a nomination and be submitted in the same manner as outlined above.

Memories of the 112th Anniversary Dinner

On June 27, 2014 the El Paso County Bar Association celebrated 112 years of service to El Paso County. Sandy Kraemer, Esq. was the speaker and shared memories throughout his career. Sandy also spoke on the topic, "All Ages Together." During the event, Sandy was also presented with the El Paso County Bar Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award by President Yolanda Fennick, Esq. Jason Landress, Esq. and Haily Kolberg, Esq. were winners of the New Lawyers Essay Contest. Both shared insightful comments concerning the future of the Bar Association. We launched the Legacy Society Life Membership Program and Dan Stuart was elected President. The founding members voted to keep the founding member status open until after the Annual Meeting on September, 9, 2014. Anyone interested in joining the Legacy Society will be recognized at the Annual Meeting.

Waldo Canyon Burn Area Tree Planting Project

On May 17, 2014 the El Paso County Bar Association in partnership with the Coalition for the Upper South Platte (CUSP), planted trees on Pyramid Mountain in Cascade. Under the leadership of EPCBA member Dan Stuart, over 70 volunteers showed up to plant trees. President Yolanda M. Fennick and board members David Webster, Mike Waters and Immediate Past President the Hon. HayDen Kane planted trees with many bar members and others members of the community. 1000 trees were planted in record time!
