Need help with your divorce? Want to talk to a lawyer about your custody or child support issue? Have a family law question? Come to Family Law Day!

Family Law Day is a free event put on by The Justice Center, the El Paso County Bar Association and the 4th Judicial District. At this event, members of the public can learn about the mechanics of filing for divorce, how to present your case, and about parenting plans and separation agreements. There will also be an Ask-a-Lawyer portion of this event. Members of the public will be able to speak to an attorney one-on-one about their legal issue, get advice about how to proceed in their case, map out their options, and ask any questions that they may have about their case or the legal process to the volunteer attorney.

Presentation Schedule:
Starting your own divorce or filing your own post-decree motion - 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
How to present your case - 10:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Child and Families in Transition Class - 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
Parenting Plans/Custody Disputes - 1:45 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Pitfalls of Separation Agreements: What to Consider - 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Maintenance & Child Support: The Basics Explained - 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Ask-A-Lawyer

Second Saturday of each month 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Location: Citadel Mall in the Imagination Celebration Suite on the east side on the mall on the second level.
Obtain free, confidential and anonymous legal advice from volunteer attorneys from the El Paso County Bar Association. Volunteer attorneys will answer the public's legal questions, in person, at this monthly event.            

Call-A-Lawyer

On the third Thursday of each month, volunteer attorneys answer telephone calls from the public. All calls are anonymous and confidential. The time and number to call for this service depends on the month per this schedule:
During the months of:
  • January
  • March
  • April
  • June
  • August
  • September
  • October
The Call-a-Lawyer clinic runs from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. and through the phone number of (719) 471-0380
During the months of:
  • February
  • May
  • July
  • November
The Call-a-Lawyer clinic is runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and through the phone number (719) 457-0640
These numbers are only in effect during the designated hours on the third Thursday of each month.  
 

Marian House Legal Clinic

Fourth Saturday of each month
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. 

Location: Marian House, 14 W. Bijou St
Obtain free, confidential and anonymous legal advice from volunteer attorneys from the El Paso County Bar Association. Volunteer attorneys will answer the public's legal questions, in person, at this monthly event. No appointment is necessary. This clinic operates on a first-come, first-served basis.
