
Corporate Associate Attorney
City of Colorado Springs
Salary Range: $6,853.01 - $8,226.90 Monthly
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies:
In this newly created position, you will be part of the Colorado Springs City Attorney's Office Corporate Division. You will provide general transactional and advisory legal services for the City, including providing appropriate legal advice and drafting services to the City Council, various boards, commissions, departments, and enterprises. Other job duties will include issuing or reviewing legal opinions, overseeing the drafting and negotiations of contracts, drafting City Ordinances and Resolutions, analyzing City Charter and City Code provisions, providing legislative counsel services to City Council and the executive staff of the City on all applicable laws and regulations, and communicating with the public on occasion. In addition, you will perform duties and responsibilities assigned by the City Attorney/Chief Legal Officer, Deputy City Attorney, or Corporate Division Chief. This position will also support attorneys in the Corporate Division and other Divisions on projects and assignments related to the City of Colorado Springs.
This position requires knowledge of substantive law; use of an electronic case management system; the ability to analyze, interpret, and apply legal principles, facts, evidence, and legal precedent; computer proficiency; superior oral and written communication skills; superior research, interpersonal, and collaboration skills; and the ability to work as a successful member of a team of attorneys representing the City in all of its functions.Successful candidates will have
- Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Law from an American Bar Association accredited law school
- Admission to the Colorado Bar or eligibility upon hire to be admitted to the Colorado Bar by Uniform Bar Examination (UBE) Score Transfer or On-Motion
Ideal candidates will also have
- Experience representing or working with a Colorado or other governmental entity
- Experience advising a city council or other legislative/advisory board
- Experience with the Colorado Open Records Act
- Experience with transactional matters
