Civil Rights Cases

CLE: 1 General

Speaker: Steven Chavez, former Director of the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD)

Topic: Mr. Chavez will explain the process typically used to investigate civil rights cases before the CCRD, including helpful practice pointers.

He will also discuss the changing landscape of Colorado public accommodations law, and in particular the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. Mr. Chavez was the Director of the CCRD when that case was first presented to the CCRD for investigation.

If you are not a member of the EPCBA, please bring a $10 check payable to the El Paso County Bar Association to defray expenses.

The program, which is almost always an accredited CLE program, starts at 12:00 and ends by 1:00.

The lunch is held on the 2nd floor of Jack Quinn’s. We apologize for the inconvenience, but there is no elevator access, only stairs. Please let us know if you need accommodation.
Full Jack Quinn's menu is available. Individual checks.
