Bench Bar Conference


  • (1) mediation; (2) effective use of Webex for trials/hearings; and (3) jury selection/trial modifications. (Judge Miller will appear by Zoom and Melissa Guggisberg will lead in-person discussion)
  • (1) court performance during the pandemic/suggested areas of improvement; (2) percentage and types of hearings that are being held; and (3) bench trials as an alternative to jury trials. Judge Schutz and Jeff Weeks will lead an in-person discussion.

COVID-19 4th JD Court Operations Bench Bar Conference

Members of the Bar are invited to engage with the Bench to discuss the future of court operations. There will be 3-4 rooms co-hosted by a judge and an attorney. There will be a limited number of spots to attend the conference in-person at the courthouse and an unlimited number of attendees able to participate via Zoom. 

Attendance is free and all are welcome to engage in respectful and productive dialogue. You do not attend the entire conference. 

The Fourth Judicial District Court is asking members of the bar for their feedback to help improve court operations in light of changes due to COVID-19. Fill out the survey here. It only takes 5 minutes! Results will be discussed at the conference.
